Aurora Wings Stella Design Team Blog Hop: Show Your Style

Welcome Friends!! Both new and old!! I'm so excited to be a part of this Design Team!! Aurora Wings are my favorite digis to work with and I am sooo honored to have been picked to be a part of this team!! Today we are gonna take you on a little trip around the world to introduce you to our new Design Team! Let's get started!!
I'm Sara and I have been playing with Aurora Wings digis for about a year. I have done some cards with her images but I feel like they are just to beautiful and intricate not to turn into something more! I have a set of 4 of them framed and hanging on the wall in my scrapbooking room! I have done a few mixed media peices with them and simply framed some as gifts because they are just so gorgeous on thier own! Today I'm going to show you a mixed media peice which is totally what I would consider my style! You are actually going to see a total of 3 similar peices from me in the next few months because I love the idea and I have some gifts to make.
Todays is for my mother in law who loves Orchids. She grows them in her dining room! As some of you know the economy here in Canada is in the pooper which means this stay at home mommy cannot stay at home full time anymore. But with hubby working our of town for weeks on a time it makes finding child care tricky especially since we live in the country. Enter my Mother in Law! She as well as my mom and my best friend have been amazing about coming out and watching the girls in the evenings so I can go to work. We could not do so many things without thier help so I always like to make little thank you gifts for them throughout the year to let them know how much we appreciate all thier help!
This is my Mother in Laws:
A beautiful Orchid filled shadow box!! The quote inside says: "When two friends understand each other totally the words are soft and strong like an orchids perfume" -Martin Luther King Jr.

This is Orchid Fairy by Aurora Wings colored with copics. Isn't it just a stunning image? Mitzi does such an amazing job giving you gorgeous details to work with!!

All pieced together ready to go in the shadow box. I just love how the image still stands out on its own even with all those flowers around it!

Fake Orchids and greenery from Michaels

Little Mermaid Birthday party

My oldest is turning 5!! :( getting big way to fast for this Momma!! She decided to have a Little Mermaid Birthday Party this year. We have had a lot of fun making all the decorations and goodie bags together!! Take a peek if you need some ideas!!

Let's start with the invitations! Thank goodness this year we only made 7 LOL 3 for her friends and 4 for scrapbooks and babybooks. I used the Cricut Disney Dreams Come True cartridge for most of these projects. It was alot of cutting but I think they turned out so cute!
The inside of the invitation:
These are little bags of sprinkles we sent out with the invites. The girls are all gonna bake thier own little cakes and decorate them so we thought it was a cute little addition to the invite. We are hoping they bring thier sprinkles back to decorate thier cakes with but who knows they may get eaten in the mean time! LOL This image is by Sassy Studio Designs and I colored it up with copics, I also used a mini background technque learned from my classes over at Kit and Clowder.
These are little cake toppers we made for the girls cakes. I took the cake topped off the Elmos party cricut cartridge and modified it to be little mermaid! Did I mention I love my circut!?
For thier goody bags we took a plain kraft gift bag and cut another Ariel and some circles to make it Little Mermaid.
Inside thier gift bags they will have these little aprons I sewed up for them as well as mini cake pans and  popcorn bowls to use while watching every Little Mermaid Movie ever produced LOL

These are little take out boxes I personalized for the girls to take their decorated cakes home in:

Gift Tags for all her presents:

Alittle mermaid dress up apron!! I`m sorry I have no tutorial to share with you for this!! I just took some scrap materials from my Grammas basement and whipped it up!

Thier goodie bags all ready to go!

I know its not a very good picture but here is the birthday banner I made for her:

Little miss with her first birthday cake; decorated all by herself!!

Cupcakes for the second birthday event:

And her birthday cake on her actual birthday:

And that`s how we rocked The Little Mermaid 5th Birthday at our house! Hope you found some inspiration today or even just had fun taking a look!! See you again soon!!
