In this house we believe in Unicorns and Dragons framed image using Flowers, Feathers and Fairies "Unicorn and Dragon"

Hey you guys!!! It's my turn to do an inspiration post for Flowers, Feathers and Fairies digital stamps!! For my birthday back in April the amazing Sabrina drew this image as well as an individual Unicorn and Dragon for me because my 6 and 4 year old daughters LOVE unicorns and dragons. I immediately fell in love with the images but as of yet have only gotten to color the Dragon and I'm not sure I have even shared with with you all yet! How awful is that!!! So for my turn as inspiration provider for the month I decided to take the opportunity to color this image with the first idea that popped into my head when I saw it!!! I had to modify a little due to time constraints but the girls and I are thrilled with the outcome and I soooo hope you will be too!!
So for starters let me introduce you to "Unicorn and Dragon"
Unicorn and Dragon - Digi Stamp JPEG+PNG

How adorable is that?!?!??!?! The butterflies and the flowers in the unicorn mane and tail give it such a playful feel!!

I decided to use a combination of techniques learned in my Kit and Clowder monthly classes to color up the image.
I love how my vision came to life here!! I wanted it to create a really magical scene here with elements that we all love. So the rainbow is my little girl, the wild flower meadow is my big girl (and me, one of the favorite places hubby and I found on our honeymoon in the Rocky Mountains around Jasper National Park) and the mountains are me. I love how each of these elements combined with the "Unicorn and Dragon" image make this image just a perfect representation of our family!!

Then I created my own version of the oh so popular "In this house" phrases going around. I honestly believe that the imagination and ability to image are two of the most important traits you can have!!! Without imagination we were never progress as a society. No one would think of new ideas. I want my girls to follow their imaginations wherever they may take them.
My big girl always says to me that the mythical creatures she loves right now aren't real. I ask her how she knows. She says she's never seen them. And I tell her that that's not proof they aren't real, it's proof no one has seen them. I choose to believe in Santa and the Easter Bunny and Unicorns, Mermaids and Dragons. Because without magic where would the fun be. There's so much magic for them to believe in and to see in the world if they only look for it!!! But they will never look if they don't believe.

To finish this project off I framed it in a lovely frame. It's currently sitting in an alcove by our front door. The girls are getting a thrill out of having a little bit of them right out there for the world to see. I think it helps them know this is their home too and pieces of them should fill it! Not just toys put away and beds made but the little things that make them who they are fill this home and are showcased here. And.... then... there's no fighting over who's room gets the "Unicorn and Dragon" image because that was the first question when I finished coloring it!! LOL

If you would like some more inspiration for these images pop over to the Flowers, Feathers and Fairies Blog and take a look at what the rest of the Design Team created for release weekend!!! These images were a surprise to me so I didn't get to participate but the rest of the team did an amazing job!!

OK, I'm off now to start another busy week here!! Hope you all enjoyed my little project for today!! See you all again real soon!! Thanks for popping by!!

Advice from a Waterfall using Flowers, Feathers and Fairies "Aiyanna" and "Waterfall Lagoon"

Hey you guys!! I am sooooo excited to share with you our new image from Flowers, Feathers and Fairies!!! Sabrina read everyone saying in our Kit and Clowder group how much they would love a good waterfall digital stamp and she listened sooooo Viola!! "Waterfall Lagoon" was born!!
And what would a waterfall lagoon be without someone enjoying it? Viola!! "Aiyana" and "Seafairy" were born!!
"Aiyana"

"Seafairy"

Now, if you are like me and not so tech savy you can purchase "Waterfall Lagoon, Seafairy, and Aiyana" in a bundle in the Flowers, Feathers and Fairies Etsy Store. You will receive each individual image as well as "Aiyana" and "Seafairy" merged with "Waterfall Lagoon." If you purchase this way you will save about 14% over what you would pay to purchase each individually. Purchasing in the bundle is also the only way to get the merged images so it's totally worth it!!!
I did not work with "Seafairy" but both Sabrina and another of our Design Team did so make sure you pop by the Flowers, Feathers and Fairies Blog to see some inspiration with those images!!

I would love to show you what I have created with these images!!! I used "Aiyana" and "Waterfall Lagoon" premerged to create a pretty awesome matted image, if I do say so myself!!
I started by coloring up the image with techniques I have learned from my Kit and Clowder classes. I loved coloring up all the layers and waves within that water!! It was an awesome challenge for me!! The way that Sabrina has drawn the canoe under the water makes it really look like its sitting in water not just drawn on a page. You know what I mean?

So I went snooping the internet for some kind of quote to put with this image. I was on pinterest looking for "Waterfall Quotes" when I found this one from Your True Nature. I am loving all these quotes and you can bet I will be using them again!!
I created the matte with my cricut and the plaque shape on the side with the quote. I finished it up with a few feather embellishments and distressed the edges and TA-DA!

I put her in a beautiful wood frame and I am beyond thrilled with the final outcome!! I love how the nature beauty of this image is enhanced by the "Advice from a Waterfall." I can her the water crashing down when I'm looking and reading. That to me is such an important part of our art... that we feel something; that we relate to it; that it sparks emotional response!!

OK, I must be off to enjoy the rest of my Mother's Day now. And for those of you in North America.... Happy Mothers Day!!! Thanks for popping by today!!

Aurora Wings Challenge #49: Frame It! using Aurora Wings "Orchid Corner" Digital Stamp

Image may contain: flower and plant
Hello All!! Man, have things been quiet in here!! I'm so sorry for that! I feel like our life just went into overdrive!! I'm really hoping things will settle down in the near future and then entire folder of "To be blogged" images will make it to you soon!! But for today I do have an awesome image to share with you from Aurora Wings!!
Mothers Day is coming and I am doing my very best to get ready. I have no idea what's happening for gifts yet but I have most of my cards done!! This is one of them!! I used the "Frame It!" inspiration for this challenge to frame in the inside of a card for my mother in law. She loves orchids and she loves purple soooo....
I used this beautiful Orchid Gatefold Card from Dreaming Tree to create my card base. These files are so easy to work with and the end result is just gorgeous!!! That gorgeous envelope over there... yup, it comes with the file!! You cannot go wrong with that!!

So I started by opening the file in my Cricut Design Space. I laid a rectangle over Dreaming Trees card base inside the card to see how big I needed to make my base with my Orchid digital stamp from Aurora Wings. Then I popped back into Microsoft Word, set my rectangle size there and imported the Orchid Corner digital stamp twice and sized each to fit the corners so that they filled the corners but not the whole rectangle.
I printed it off on my copic xpress it paper and got to work!! I just love how this inside shows so many different layers and colors while not looking overwhelming!!
To color the Orchid Corner digital stamp I pulled out my V91-V99 copics and my Kit and Clowder Elements of Nature Class and got to work!!
To finish it off I edged everything with my Tim Holtz Dusty Concord distress ink and used it to stamp the sentiment. Then I embossed it quick and VIOLA!!! One custom Orchid Gatefold card for my amazing Mother in Law!!

I hope this gives you a different way to look at our Frame It! Challenge this week over at the Aurora Wings Challenge Blog!! And if you would like to grab this digi for yourself you can find it in these places:
