Aurora Wings Challenge #60: Recycled- Shaker Card using Miyabi (Full Version)

Well Hello again!!! We have been busy over at the Aurora Wings Challenge Blog getting ready for this fun challenge!! We are all about the earth and environment and this challenge we would love to see you reuse, recycle and repurpose on your project!! With that challenge in mind I have a shaker card to show you today. I used scraps of paper that really should have been recycled for the cherry blossoms and plastic from a strawberry container to seal my shaker pieces in. Take a look!!
This is the full version of Miyabi so it includes all the flowers you see in the background. You can also purchase her without the background. I have so much fun coloring her up every time I do!! I colored her a couple times a few years ago while recovering from surgery and it was such a delight to go back and see how much I have grown in my coloring in the last few years!!
For today's project I colored Miyabi up as a 5x7 image. I stamped the sentiment in that lovely open spot Mitzi left for us for just such a purpose I am sure. Then I cut the border out of a Kraft cardstock (which is generally made with recycled paper, no?) I placed the plastic on that and then foam taped around the edge. Then I cut the tiny little cherry blossoms out of some scrap pink paper and placed them on the plastic. I finished by placing the image over all of that and adding "With Love" in the bottom right corner.

I love how this turned out and I honestly can't wait to see what you all come up with for this challenge!! Aren't some of the other designers projects just awesome!!!??

If you would like to have Miyabi(full version) all to yourself you can find here:

Have a fabulous couple weeks!!! And have sooo much fun with this challenge!!! Thanks for popping by!!

Aurora Wings Challenge #58: Clean and Simple; Inspirational Art using Flower Moon

Well Hello there!! I am so excited to share this latest peice with you!! Remember last month I said I had 3 different ideas for "Flower Moon"? Well this month I'm sharing another one with you!
"Shoot for the Moon even if you miss you'll land among the Stars"

I just love this image!! Its just as thrilling for work with a second time as the first!! I really wanted to make the moon look like it was glowing in this one and I really think I accomplished that. I did each of the flowers in a two tone almost so they would all have a touch of that soft yellow in them.

I hope you can see that two tone a little better in the close ups!!

When I had it all colored I popped it into an 8x8 frame to be hung on the wall.

And there you have it my friends. My clean and simple project for you!
Thanks for popping by today!! I do hope you will play along with us HERE

If you would like to play with Flower Moon yourself you can find her here:

Aurora Wings Challenge: #56- Anything Goes- Nursery Art using "Flower Moon"

Hello Hello All!! I have another beautiful Aurora Wings image to share with you today!! And hopefully in a really unique way no one has used it yet... Eeeks!! I'm so excited about this and a couple other projects using this image. I immediately was inspired by this image and had 3 ideas pop into my head just like that! So today I will show you the first and next month you will see at least one of the others!!
This is the beautiful "Flower Moon" image!! Isn't it stunning? And sooo different!! I have never seen anything like it!! I LLLLLOOOOVVVVEEE it!!
So wanna see what I did with it?
I colored her up bright and beautiful with a baby girls nursery or toddler room in mind! That is if my little girls don't steal it first!! LOL
Isn't it awesome!! I love the way Mitzi has the hair flowing through the whole moon; popping out in different places!! It's just so cool!!

Here she is a little closer up without any frame around her... I love how the flowers and different elements come right out to the edge for you; so you don't have a big uncolored area ya know?

Just a few close ups to show you all the stunning details Mitzi has drawn in for us!! All those water droplets(as I saw them) and all those different layers of different flowers!! Amazing!!
Thank you for another amazing image Mitzi!!!

Now if you want "Flower Moon" too you will find her here:

And make sure you play along this time with our "Anything Goes Challenge" on the Aurora Wings Challenge Blog!!

See you all next time!! Thanks so much for popping by!!

Flowers, Feathers and Fairies New Release: Gypsy

Hey everyone!! I have a super fun card to share with you today!! Sabrina has drawn us a Gypsy with an adoreable little monkey!
She looks just like what I always imagine Gypsy's to look like!! And how sweet is her little pet monkey!!

I turned this image into a card for my little sisters 30th birthday:
I always think bright, bold colors, that may or may not go together when I think Gypsy. I just think they like what they like and that's it. So I totally used that gypsy spirit when I chose my papers and embellishments.
"You are exactly who & what & where you are supposed to be and you are lovely" I thought this was totally the perfect sentiment for my sweet sis's 30th!!

And there you have it!! Make sure you pop by the Flowers, Feathers and Fairies Etsy store to grab her!!! You won't regret it!!

Thanks for popping by!!

Aurora Wings Challenge #55- Elements using "Siren

Hello everyone and welcome back to another Aurora Wings Challenge!! This time we are playing with the "Elements" I chose water and this new beautiful "Siren" image was absolutely perfect!!
So I did a little research on Sirens before I started this project because while I knew they were mermaid like creatures I knew they weren't exactly mermaids. So here's a little of what I learns:
  • Sirens used their song to call sailors off their course and to their deaths
  • They were beautiful creatures that have either been depicted as half bird half human or half fish half human. However, their beauty lay more in their song than their physical appearance
  • They are mentioned in Greek mythology has having done one of the water goddesses wrong-- something about protecting a daughter who ended up being kidnapped; and the sirens were sentenced to a life at sea until the princess was safely returned-- If I got that wrong please correct me!!
  • Sirens generally had 1 island that was theirs and many sailors marked it on their maps as a place to avoid
  • There was one Captain who apparently wanted to hear the Siren song so much that he made all his crew wear ear plugs and tie him to the mast. That way he could hear thier song but no one including himself would be able to steer the ship off course and close the island.
So having learned all that, I really wanted to do something dark and mysterious with this image but still to reflect the beauty of the Siren. And I'm really hoping I did that! Take a look below and tell me what you think!!
This took me hours of fun to create the Mermaid Scale background!! I used a base layer of black, brushed over it with a purple metallic and then another layer of black so the purple just sparkles so slightly in all that black base.
Once that dried I got out some of my Inca Golds and used them through a Mermaid Scale stencil. I layered the Incas over and over in so many different places so that each color was blended with all the others but so that each color still shone as itself. If that makes sense? LOL
For the flowers I misted each with a Black Dylusions and layered Heidi Swapp shimmer mists over top in a couple different colors and then gave it another shot of black.
I love the use of a couple different metal embellishements. I was hoping it gave the look of what a mix match you would find at the bottom of the ocean at all different levels of breaking down.

"My home is the open sea where stars shine brighter and my soul is free"
I really hoped that the different colored mediums I used would all pull together nicely and highlight the colors already used in coloring the mermaid and I think I succeeded!!!
Lastly I just really wanted to show you all the different metallic colors shining in the Mermaid Scales. I hope the picture shows enough of them!!
It really is just stunning!!!!

Aurora Wings Challenge #53- Anything Goes using "Flora 2- Goddess of Flowers"

Image may contain: 1 person
Hello again!! 2 post within a few days!! Aren't you guys shocked!! Me too!!! I love it when I get to color all of the images at once!! Today I get to share with you my latest Aurora Wings piece. I loved working with Flora 2: Goddess of Flowers.
I really wanted to work with some softer colors for this one so I used my RV90's, V90's and R90's which came out a little pinker than I wanted but it really adds a nice pop of color.

To finish this piece off I matted it on some purple card stock, edged with ivory lace and added an inspirational Claude Monet quote in the corner because the soft blending of all the colors really made me this of Monet with this one, the blending of the flowers, hair and dress also really helped take my mind to Monet.

Lastly I framed her up in a beautiful black leather frame.

Here's a close up of the quote for you:
"It's on the strength of observation and reflection that one finds a way. So we must dig and delve unceasingly." -Claude Monet

Now if you love this beautiful image you can find it here:

Thanks so much for popping in today!! Make sure you pop by everyone elses blogs to see the beauty they created as well!!! Have an awesome month!!

Flowers, Feathers and Fairies: New Releases!!! Floating Isles and Hunter with Wolf

Good Morning Everyone!!! I have a couple super awesome new images to share with you today!!
Flowers, Feathers and Fairies just released this awesome new background digital stamp called Floating Isles and I love it!! Soooo much!!
Floating Isles Background Digi Stamp - JPG

So first I merged with "Tiger Lily" and colored it up!!
I created a day scene for this image and I absolutely adore it!! Look at all those layers in the sky!! Just such incredible depth created by Sabrina here!!

Next I merged it with "Hunter with Wolf" and created a night scene:
I love all the details that are left for us!! I chose to add a few little stars as if they were just starting to appear but wait till you see what Sabrina did with her night scene!! Its incredible!!

And lastly we let my 6 year old have a little play with the "Floating Isles" and "Peony Fairy"
Skyla had so much fun coloring with up!! She was thrilled to start looking at cast shadows and layers and although its not perfect I think she nailed it!!
Sabrina added an extra large peony and a couple little ones in the grass for us and she's told me if anyone wants to recreate this just purchase the 2 images and send her an email and she will send you this file with the extra Peonies added.

That's all for me today. I know it's short and sweet and missing all kinds of links I usually give you guys and I do appologize but I'm running behind with my life and just finished coloring late last night. Today is Canada Day so we are heading to join the celebrations with the kiddos and I must go dress and sunscreen the masses!!
Happy Weekend!!!
